Most small businesses do not need AI to reinvent the entire company.
They need it to take a few repetitive tasks off the list.
This week’s updates show AI assistants moving in that direction: remembering recurring requests, working with everyday apps and becoming cheaper to run behind the scenes.

Meta AI can now handle recurring tasks

Meta AI can now connect to email and calendar apps, conduct research, create presentations and complete scheduled tasks on a user’s behalf.
Instead of asking it for the same information every week, you can set up a task once and have Meta AI continue delivering it. The features are initially rolling out in selected markets through the Meta AI app and website, with more countries and products including WhatsApp expected to follow.
For a small business, that could eventually mean:
A morning briefing based on your calendar.
A weekly summary of industry developments.
Research prepared before a client meeting.
A first draft of slides from information it has gathered.
The significant change is not that Meta AI can create another report.
It is that the assistant can remember the request, follow a schedule and work with information from other applications.
That makes it more useful but also gives it access to more business data.
Start with a low-risk task, review which accounts it can see and avoid giving it access to an entire inbox or calendar when a narrower connection will do.
Try this: Identify one briefing you repeatedly prepare. Write down what information it needs, how frequently it should run and what you still need to review before using the result.

OpenAI has made some AI workloads much cheaper
OpenAI has reduced the API price of GPT-5.6 Luna by 80% and GPT-5.6 Terra by 20%. It has also introduced a faster option for its more powerful Sol model when speed is worth paying extra for.
This is not an 80% reduction in the price of a normal ChatGPT subscription.
It applies mainly to businesses and software providers using OpenAI’s models inside products and automations.
That matters when an AI system performs the same task hundreds or thousands of times, such as:
Sorting customer enquiries.
Extracting information from documents.
Categorising feedback.
Preparing routine first drafts.
As the cost of each request falls, more everyday processes become affordable to automate.
The practical takeaway is to avoid using the most expensive model for every step. A lower-cost model may be perfectly capable of handling straightforward work, while a stronger model is reserved for tasks where mistakes carry greater consequences.
AI ON YOUR DESKTOP
Gemini can now help with what is on your Mac screen

Google has launched a native Gemini app for Macs running macOS 15 or later.
Users can open it from anywhere using a keyboard shortcut and share a window with Gemini to ask questions about what is currently on screen—including local files, charts and documents. Google says the app is available globally at no cost.
For example, you could show Gemini:
A spreadsheet and ask for the main trends.
A report and request a short summary.
A draft proposal and ask what information is missing.
A chart and ask for a plain-English explanation.
This first version is better understood as on-screen assistance, not full computer automation. It can understand what you show it, but Google is still describing more proactive desktop capabilities as something being developed for the future.
Even so, removing the need to upload, copy and re-explain everything could make AI more convenient during ordinary work.
AI PRIVACY
Shared Claude conversations appeared in search results

Publicly shared Claude conversations were recently found in Google and Bing search results. Reports indicated that the affected conversations had been shared using Claude’s public-link feature; private chats that had never been shared were not exposed.
Anthropic’s own documentation confirms that Claude chats are private by default. However, once a public share link is created, anyone with that link can view a snapshot containing the messages and artifacts included at the time it was shared.
That distinction may not be obvious when someone creates a link simply to send a conversation to one colleague.
Before sharing an AI chat, check it for:
Customer or employee information.
Internal financial figures.
Passwords, API keys or access instructions.
Confidential plans and documents.
Claude users can review existing public links under Settings → Privacy → Shared chats and revoke any that should no longer be available.
A useful rule: Treat every public AI share link like a webpage, not a private attachment.
